Housing Guarantee
for new students in Aarhus

- a guide to find accommodation quickly
Learn more about the terms and conditions, accommodation types and instructions of application on www.studenthousing.com.
The Municipality of Aarhus:
· Offers a Housing Guarantee to new students in Aarhus.
· The Housing Guarantee applies to everyone starting at an institution of education in Aarhus.
· The Housing Guarantee means that you “move ahead” in the queue and are offered accommodation in student residences or shared-facilities houses with occupancy starting in the period from 15 July to 1 January.
The Housing Guarantee applies to:
· All new students starting at an institution of education in Aarhus in the autumn semester.
Application:
· You must register a general accommodation application on the home page www.studenthousing.com. This is the home page of the Central Student Housing Office in Aarhus - “Kollegiekontoret”.
· You can apply for your Housing Guarantee from 1 February to 15 August on www.studenthousing.com where there is a check box in your application “register housing guarantee"
Specification of the Housing Guarantee:
· You may be offered all types of single-room accommodation shown on www.studenthousing.com - even accommodation types you have not applied for in your general accommodation application.
· You may be offered accommodation from 15 July – even if you on your general accommodation application have applied for a later date.
· If you turn down the offer or fail to respond to the offer, your registration on the Housing Guarantee list will be deleted, but your application on the general waiting list will be maintained.
· You only get one offer by the housing guarantee.
· You are only able to apply for single-room accommodation. This means you cannot obtain housing via the Housing Guarantee if you want to share the accommodation with another student. Then you have to make a 2-persons application.
· You can always delete your application on the Housing Guarantee list and maintain your general application. You can do it on www.studenthousing.com.
· You cannot obtain information about your place on the Housing Guarantee list or information about when you will be offered accommodation, simply because we do not know.
You must remember:
· To reapply on www.studenthousing.com each month.
· Before 15 August, to submit proof of enrolment at an institution of education in Aarhus beginning in the autumn semester. If documentation is not submitted, your application on the Housing Guarantee list is deleted and accommodation already allocated may be terminated. Please sent it to info@ungdomsboligaarhus.dk,or by post to Nordhavnsgade 1, 1 th. 8000 Aarhus C.
· If you temporarily move to another adress before you are offered a room through the Housing Guarantee list, you must change your address on the application.
· If you are not at your address during periods (eg. due to holidays), you must give your parents or someone else a written authority to check your mail. The written authority must clearly indicate who may sign on your behalf. Copies of the written authority must be sent to “Kollegiekontoret” along with the housing offer and contract that requires your signature.
When you obtain a housing offer:
· Vacant accommodation will be offered to the applicants in order of registration on the Housing Guarantee list. Vacant accommodation will be offered to applicants on a continuous basis. This means that if you register early, you will be offered accommodation before the start of your education, and if you register late, you will be offered accommodation after the start of your education.
· You must be aware that if you turn down the offer or fail to respond to the offer, your application for the Housing Guarantee is deleted.
· If you accept a Housing Guarantee offer for 15 July or 1 August, and you thereafter are enrolled in another city, we will try to re-let your accommodation as soon as possible.
· If you say "no" to a place, after a lease has been sent to you, your application will be deleted and you must start all over again on a new application. This also applies if Kollegiekontoret has informed another housing association of your accept of an offer.
